About The New Travelers

Welcome to our website!  Take a look around and let us know what you think!

I’m Nick.  I am a recent graduate who has been a teacher in New Orleans and a ski instructor in Park City.  I have traveled  in the US and to countries abroad, including Korea, Ireland, Scotland, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Mexico.  And I hope to visit as many as I can!

However, I currently work in Washington, DC in marketing.  I am one of many who are caught between a love of adventure and the comfort of family and friends and a stable job.  But I don’t believe they have to be mutually exclusive.

Whether I’m living in the US or abroad, I plan on seeing the sights, tasting the food, and taking in the culture of wherever I am.  I am part of a new generation of travelers in the US, who are not content to spend their lives in one little corner of the world.  They save their money for plane tickets because they know it’s the best investment they can make.  And whether they live in Columbus or Colombia, they get outside their comfort zones and open themselves to new experiences.

The New Travelers exists to inspire a new attitude about travel by telling the stories of regular people; people who are willing to explore the diverse places, cultures, and people that make our world so beautiful.

We will give you ideas and tips for how to get the most out of your adventures.  It’s up to you to pack your bags and go.  The world is waiting.

But it won’t wait forever.

We are a new site.  So bear with us.  But as we go, we will add helpful guides for road trips, backpacking, travel-related jobs, study abroad options, and guides to US cities, among other features.

Stories will feature practical and inspirational personal accounts written by all types of travelers: outdoor adventure guides, engineers, web analysts, and sailors.

Travel Tips will answer the questions what, where, and how.  Use this as a resource when you’re planning a trip or just thinking about where to go.  We’re not TripAdvisor.  We don’t have hundreds of hotel reviews and we never will.  But we’ll give you tips that you can use, because we aren’t professionals, and you probably aren’t either.  Everyone knows the best way to see a city is not by hiring a guide, it’s by having a friend who lives there.  Think of us as that friend.

Meet a Traveler helps you get to know us (and our friends).  Every month, we’ll feature a different traveler who embodies the attitude that we stand for in his/her own way.  Check it out and get to know other people who love to travel just as much as you do.

Study Abroad contains weekly live updates from bloggers studying around the world; as well as stories and tips to help you plan for your semester or year abroad.

Have an idea for how we can be better?  Let us know in the comments, on social media, or by email (thenewtravelers101@gmail.com).  If you have a travel story or tips to share, we would love to hear about that, too.  Contact us if you want to be a contributor with your travel and writing experience and any ideas you have that would fit on our site.  We would love to find a way to share your story and we will respond to emails in a timely manner.

Thanks for visiting!
